C.G. ABOUT HER INSPIRATION
"I am inspired by sketched lines, I could also say I investigate
what a sketched line in a drawing does with shape.
A sketched line as 'shape' - a sketched line as 'no shape'.
A sketched line clearly defines shape, the shape gets it's meaning,
the meaning has been shaped by a sketched line that clearly defines.
The shapes I create with lines, are born from a web of lines, no shape
outline is visible.
The sketched lines characterize and break out of its typified
character in an ever itself renewing shape and evolves out of no shape.
A continuity of coinciding and falling to pieces, itself repeating
and changing.
In my work the etch technique is winning more and more space,
or better, a communication between drawing and etching is coming
into being. It is the 'inprint' and it's the sharp, severe biting
line that already from itself shows a process, but also shows
an exchange of preserving material.
The medium has it's own language so do I. At times those languages
disintegrate, other times they come together with an unexpected
result, every time again, I create an antidote to round up
and start a process. 'Hands' serve the coninuity of this process,
a theme, they symbolize that what they shape and my starting
point was homosapiens, a thinking being." C.G.
